Solar Etching Plate - a great little find

I found this little treasure in a bottom shelf, long forgotten. It was a trial solar plate that had just been exposed and printed in one colour then set aside. The 3 colours have brought it to life. It is a bit worse for wear having a couple of cracks but I was able to get an edition of 8. Using Akua waterbased ink... the rock shade is from my leftover mix of ink, Pthalo blue for the water and gold capturing the last rays of sun on the yellow sand.
The first two prints are especially lovely with the white of the paper showing through on the rock and the birds. Subsequent prints lost this in my frenzy to create an edition although the plate was cleaned and dried  between prints.

I love the subtle variations in the edition of this special little print.
